Sleep Walking Or [rasuk]?

I actually totally forgot about this incident which happened like 11 years ago until my mates brought it up over dinner just under an hour ago. So yea, decided to blog this up quickly before its forgotten again as I believe this only can happen once in my Lifetime. Hmmp.. yea. hopefully once will do. =)

So, maybe some background introduction first:

There were like maybe 30+ of us went off to a camp in order to obtain the "Ahli Perkhidmatan badge" during my sea-scouting days. I was form two and leading another junior scout ( Sheng Ji ) in the same patrol. This is actually a very basic camp. More like a honeymoon stay in Coronation Camp. Just need to build a tent with drain around, flagpole, fencing and a simple gateway with mob sticks.

But during one of the night, something happened to me which I could not explain. I wasn't even conscious. Wasn't even myself. I honestly doesn't remember a thing. Just remembered I went to "bed", then woke up WET next to a GUY in another campsite. Weird. Initially I just thought maybe I am having the normal "Simon blow" syndrome. But, apparently I did some stuff which  I myself could not imagine myself doing it.

I still doesn't know how true is this...
..but this is the info I got it from the *witnesses awake at the time:

Gonna have to provide as little details as possible:
I slept at my own campsite.I got up. I ran to the river. I walk into it. I pee. I walk back to anotyher campsite. I mumbling some "bahasa orang gila". I went back to bed next to that guy. I woke up.

THE END.

Kampung [boy]

NOP. I was not raised in a house made of bricks. The roof is basically that typical "colorful" atap. Sunlights could shine in and water does leaked in once in awhile when it rains. My parents had to pay the landlord monthly to keep that roof over our head. There are drains inside; homes of many rats and cockroaches. One of my hobbies? Killing them with special wooden shoes!!

Hey, I remember the sound of "Kah Kiak". Had to wear and run across the backyard past few chickens in order to take care of some "big business". Oh yes, the "poo poo" toilet is not in my house, and we need to share it with others. The backyard is connected to my two other neighbours. We could just run around 3 houses like no body's business.

My family of 6 lives in a room. Smaller than the one I am in right now. No window. But at lease it has air-con. Upstairs were occupied by others. My uncle and another family of two. My late God Father's motorcycle shop is attached to our house in front. Strangers walked in and out all the time borrowing toilet and stuff. It was ever so full of life.

No. I did not had much ice creams, sweets, snacks or luxury foods. I made my own lantern. I made my own Kite. I made my own sword with newspaper. I even modified my own bicycle. The open sea is not far away. We go there all the time to fly kite. We prank people all the time. Games like gasing, congkak and chinese chess were crazy fun to us. The whole kampung feels like ours. But once too playful, I was robbed by a stranger koko. My gold neck-less given by my late God Father gone. =(

Now. You might be wondering, why writing this all of a sudden? Sigh, its cause the place where I had so much fun growing up will soon be torn down for roads. Sad. But it is necessary in order to make Penang roads better. Will be visiting it very soon with my camera. Before it’s too late.

With love,
Jelutong Kiddo

Bon Odori [2012]

I've just open my eyes after spending over 5 minutes thinking when was my 1st Bon Odori experience. I certainly remember going with Sam and Mei Qing aka Aunty Pumba when I was form 5 and bang some cars while parking. Another time during my form 6 period with my old N'tau's gang where a corn stuck in my nose" torturing me to the Max! But why I just cant recall who did i went with during my 1st trip? I remember someone macho carried me up his shoulder and the fireworks almost hit me as it fly off super low.. *Crazy experience..

And Yup. Times flies and finally in 2012, I was there again with a friend. Both with DSLR camera trying to play around with night settings and to witness the ever popular fireworks.

One of the highlight of the day is that I am fortunate enough to park my car in between the esplanade sea and field even when we reached there late around 8. *Just when my friend was saying "let's try our luck" and "BOOM", a car signaled out and gave us an empty space. *Picture to your left: Can spot my car?

So, we started off by walking pass the crazy busy food area where I don't think I manage to look into any of the stalls since most of the time we were just trying to get to the other end of the road.  *I errr, actually met my Motorola cubical mate there. She was with her bf and younger sister. And when we finally turned into the games corner, our hands get itchy and started taking pictures while stopping by stalls by stalls to check out interesting stuff.

After all that, we finally settled down near the stage to watch the performances. They were all actually quite good. Awesome to be exact. We could see that the performers were really enjoying themselves up there. Not something i could easily forget.

And after the traditional rasa sayang dance: Fireworks time!!

To my surprised, somehow my friend was right. The fireworks did started firing up exactly at 10pm as planned. I was thinking Malaysia standard practice normally buffer around 30 minutes. Maybe cause this is a Japanese event.

And so, the fireworks didn't disappoint. Nice to witness a proper one after so long. I think my last fireworks experience was during New Year celebration in 2010/2011 Straight Quay. The rest are just small small one for CNY and stuff. You can watch the entire fireworks video i captured on top.

It was a Good Night.

Cheers

And [ I ] Thought Last Week Was Crazy Enough..

Day 1: Started off by waking up 6.45 in da Saturday morning for a hike to Monkey Beach after a night out with some old mates! Took about 1.5 hours to reach there (Due to some technical errors) but did many crazy stuff along the way and finally build my first ever Sipeh Noob eh Sand Castle on the beach!! Caught quite an attention around the visitors cause our castle was kinda in da hot spot.. Back to Civilization on Boat of Cause as the sun burned my ass off!
Monkey Beach Hike + Sand Castle

Then in all randomness, we decided to visit the Butterfly Farm since my friend haven't been there!! *My 3rd time in 2 years. Thanks to my Endau Ba Steven Ng yet again we only got to pay almost HALF Price for the entry!! And ya, here is where I got to test my Canon DSLR to the limit but due to limitation from the user's skill, pictures are just OKay nia.. Then, sign my friend off after a cheese cake session at Straight Quay.

Butterfly Farm: Just Okay Skills from the user

Hours later a friend called for a Board Game Session! And so I went over the Green Lane McD and started rubbing writings off the game papers so we could reuse them and save some trees!! Board Game is called:  CASHFLOW!! Interesting game but I was last out of 6 players. Ate the promotion buy 1 free 1 thingy and met some old friends there as well. Balik Pukul 2++ am. Tidor Kemudian.

Day 2: Bangun 9 in pagi and go kidnap Joshua again to the Independent band performances + Tropfest sempena the closing day for the Geogetown 1 month long Fetival. Awesome day! 12 Hours of non stop action camping at Botanical garden. One of the indi band stand out miles away from the others, that alone make my 20 ringgit ticket worth while.

Best Band Of The Day

Had Mcd for lunch then RM4.5 nasi lemak for dinner. Nite time i got to be on the same field with our Penang CM, Guan Eng!! This event is superbly organised I must say, Never for once I enjoyed a governmental event this much. Started with some soft instrumental songs then interesting speeches from the President, Phua Chu Kang's wife: Margret and finally our CM!!

Tropfest: World Largest Short Film Festival! And It's held In Penang!!

Then the show started by playing 9 top short movies in the world (2 more got banned due to censorship)  in conjunction to Tropfest theme: Light bulb. Awesome LCD wide screen display I must say, Movies were crystal clear and the content are beyond awesomeness!! Specially love the old couple playing dead one I must say. *Check them out if you guys can go google it up. And so Event ended at 11pm and i got myself a T-shirt to show some support. Got back, lepak and upload some photo's. Tidor pada 3++.

T-Shirt to show some Support!!

Day 3: Wakes up at 830am cause mum thought today was working day. Off straight to Georgetown with a mission: CAPTURE ALL DRAWINGS IN THE STREETS!! And yo, took us crazy 5 hours to accomplish this and finally a tea break at *Bite Sensation: Pg Time Square.

Me Flying!!

Back home after that and received a call yet again from Fitness first! Oh gosh, forced me to go at 8pm after i delayed them for over 2 months. Need to train up my rejection skill. *Thanks Funngy for giving my name to them!! And so i geared up and while I am about to leave, I called them up and make another awesome excuse!! Oh yea. so here I am, lepaking on the internet then suddenly feel like updating my DEAD blog.

Signing off!
Cheers!!

[2012] The Beginning

Hey I'm back to this blog again for now,
Writing this up randomly on my bed after the new year countdown,
Do take your time slowly and check this poem out,
Hopefully this is enough to make you go wow!!

The Almighty dragon enters the ring to entertain the crowd,
Breathing out fire burning everything around,
Cute little rabbit got scared and freak out,
Quickly hop to the calender and flip it to Twenty Twelve!

2011 wasn't really great all around,
More tears than laughter and plenty of up & downs,
But who cares about the past as 2012 is here now,
The future is bright and I'm restarting it with a smile!

I'm finally graduated with a degree now,
End of my study life which was as fun as hell,
Although study so much but still tak berapa tau,
I manage to land an Engineering Job out in the wild!

Younger days, many predicted that I would be a clown,
They say I always run around and buat kacau,
Some even go to the extend by calling me a lau kau,
But I know, the Engineering genes is flowing in me all this while!!

Motorola is where I'm working now,
It's big, it's funky and it's located at my hometown,
Nice place to work but sometimes the traffic can be quite siao,
Luckily I'm smart enough to use the emergency lane to get out!!

Penang is making progress thanks to our CM in town,
But please be aware of the increasing number of cars on roads now,
Hope our CM could plan out something quickly to help us out,
If not, I'll just stay at home every weekends to watch movies from Andy Lau.

As usual, good food can always get around Georgetown,
We have superb Laksa, Hokkien Mee and also Char Koay Teow,
The problem is that the food prices gonna increased again now,
And it increases faster than my weight which is bad for health!!

Guess I'm running out of ideas on what to write now,
Gonna have to sign off here and get myself out,
Hopefully last night you had a great time partying kau kau,
All the best and I'll see you around!!

Cheers,
Simon Loh

The [ eye ]

hi.
Like everyone else, My eyes were as healthy as it can be.
But not anymore after standard 4.
Why is that?

Here's the story:

Primary school: I was a fearless kid. Everything also must try. And obviously have some fashion sense as well. During the primary schooling days, I often wonder why some wear spec wan. Thought maybe its a trend or something. So at some point when there's nothing better to try, I put on my friend's spec and people were starting to give me some wannabe attention. With my sudden fame, I proudly tell everyone that I can see those words on the blackboard better, clearer and sharper!! And so, I wore the spec while copying notes from the board for the entire class.

BANG!
My eyesight were never the same again.

I Finally [ did ] It !!

Spot and see
If there's anything unusual?

No idea what am I talking about?
okay, I circle them out ya..

Still No idea?
Then I got a confession to make:

Yesterday was supposed to be a great evening

The plan: Visit school, Visit Mcdonald for early dinner, Check out some performances in TARC, Then finally off to Dewan Sri Pinang for a comedy show.

Well, the plan was well executed until I reached TARC. As I locked my car door and obediently sits at the waiting area before entering the performance hall, an unlikely SMS arrived. Someone PPK us for the comedy show!! Nothing too seriously really, just disappointed a bit to PPK the show as well.

Since I've got nothing to do later, I thought maybe I should stay longer in TARC. As I enter the hall and witness the opening dance and speech, I suddenly realized that I've lost my car key after doing the usual body check thingy. Without much hesitation, I ran straight to the car park to see if I've drop somewhere.

Pheew..
I'm so glad I've found it
But the problem is:

MY KEYS WERE FREAKING LOCKED INSIDE MY CAR!!

After trying multiple ways to break in my car, I finally had to borrow my friend's manual car and drive all the way back to my house for the spare key.

Just in case you wondering how far my house is from TARC on a Saturday night:

THANK YOU

My previous [ home ]

The Legendary Backyard

I was part of the so called kampung boy clan living inside a shared rented shop lot until I turned 7. The front part of the lot belongs to a motorcycle mechanic (my godfather) where he runs his business there. Another small family took the 2nd floor, where else my family of 6 fit into a small air-conditional room at the ground floor. We all share one common living room, a bathroom (no shitting allowed), kitchen or anything else in the house. Just right above the washing area, the roof can be open or closed to allow the sunlight in. There's also a backyard behind shared by another two neighbouring house. The toilet for BIG business is at the end of the backyard next to a giant steel door. Yes, the only shitting toilet is for all to share.

Not sure what are those...

Surprisingly most memories I can remember are all happy ones. Every single kid around the kampung area were friends. There's not much of you or me, its all about us. No computer, no money, no toys. Just us making pranks, creating new games with anything we have, chasing each other, or trying to be wannabe gangster. Too many memorable incident I need to put them in documentary. But maybe next time.

*Really nice looking back and paying a visit to some old kampung mates once every Chinese New Year. Real gald that my old atap made home are still standing too. =)

Last [night]

"It's like someone intentionally staged me up. But thats definitely the last. Didn't managed to say good bye to any of them though. Sincerely wish and hope the best for all of you as we now gonna have to take a different path towards shaping our future"

Just managed to squeeze all my heavy junks into the car. Gonna have a last good rest in this room which I had spend an incredible 5 months altogether with my awesome roommate this last semester. He's gonna have his final presentation in a few hours time while I gonna be leaving Pahang. For good.

Wonder will I ever miss this place...
Herm...maybe not yet...
I'll still be coming back for my graduation day...

After that?

herm..lets finds out later

Good Night

Getting [ready] to move on..

Just one last task..then I'm good to go:
Final Year Project Presentation
Final showdown on Nov 29th..

Full speed ahead!!!
(photo* me on a mission trip somewhere in perlis)

Leaving Pahang very very sooon......
Just for the record: I always struggle with good bye-ses especially in closing stages. But this time, NO PROBLEM!! I can just run around saying good bye to everyone and anyone... starting from Lembu to Kambing... then to Pokok... and back to Kerbau and Orang asli!! Yup.... You heard me!!

Yet still...
It's always nice looking back on how it begins with a simple offer letter from UMP. Just a blink of an eye, an offer letter from Motorola pula. Then.. who knows? Life is always full of surprises: already given up trying to plan my future ahead~~ so just let it be...

However..
Things are moving faster than I thought. 23 years of age is not just a figure anymore. And it keeps telling me this: You're time has come young man...

Every ending has a beginning...
and every beginning has an ending

Watched Lin Dan beat Datuk Lee the other day...

[bang bang] My Car

Just when I thought my car suffered enough damage in Pahang..
Now kena bang from behind pulak!!

And its not by any car or motorcycle..
its a V.A.N

Was just washing it..

The story: Traffic light turned red. I was slow enough to stop in the right possible way. 10 seconds later while singing to the music from HITz dot fm: BANGKruchbOOM!!! A white van came kissing my car's Ass~~~ and me of cause walk out straight and act gangster abit. Luckily the driver is a family man driving around 12 people in it, so he "had" to look good in front of his kids.

...And so we began to bargain a price to settle it starting from
the one he offered me: RM50.

I said:
NO! Look here and there and here plus there and those previous damages from before also kira under him (from 1st look not much damage really, just the number plate GG).

Van Driver:
okie la okie la.. RM100 k?

Me:
(Act miserable look) okie lor...

~~Settled~~

With new number plate:

Continued: Didn't I said my car had auto oil leakage? And so I drove to the mechanics straight to had them repaired. I told him bout the accident and he was laughing saying that the number plate only cost around RM15-20 max. So untung lor!!! hooray~~~

BUT
suddenly we also found out that:

eh??

And several internal damages where the whole bumper actually..
MASUK DALAM...

And after all repaired work: RM 85
so RM100 - 85 = RM15
still untung eh..
Shhhh! dun tell the van driver.. =)

Never lose your [ cool ]

From that day onwards I learned that
emotions can be controlled..

I remembered having a serious confrontation during my form 3 period and the discipline teacher had to come over to cool it off. When he demands for explanation, I raised my voice, goes aggressive and reacted defensively as the other student began to accuse me for starting the fight. I totally lose it.

My discipline teacher just stood there and observed with a very intense looking face. But he's not furious or angry. He's disappointed seeing me loses myself so easily. As he began to open his gold mouth, the whole scene concentrates on only one person: ME.

To my surprise, he was not there to pass judgement, He's there to turn this fight into a lesson. And you probably already guess it right, one of his advices was to: "never lose your cool".

THE END =)

as long as the one that is still in control wins"

CAR [gg] lo

My ISWARA 1.5 never disappoint me..
Never ever...
Not untill I bring it to PAHANG
T.T

Those happier days..

Ever since I got my car license in 2004, this car is always there for me all the time. Bringing me to school, tuitions, meetings, cybercafes, mamaks, puppy dates and even to my 1st part time job. I bet over few hundreds of people had enjoyed its services before which includes few "BRATHER" hidden behind its bonnet to escape school. 13 passengers (aged 13-18) is still the current record yet to be broken since November 2004 and it even protected me before from polices and a few haram eh people. What an awesome ride..... with minimum technical issues.

BUT AFTER SOME PAHANG BLACK MAGIC:

RM200 + RM160: Car engine fan stop working twice
RM 180 : Battery "kong" after car alternater not working
RM250 : New alternater after car gave up and refuse to move
RM God knows how much : Auto gear and break oil leakage

TOTAL SO FAR:
RM790 + (RM God knows how much)..

And it all happen in less than a year
God must have a good sense of humor
*only in Pahang*

by the way, both my slide phones also rosak..
And when I bring them back to the shop..
...they voided my warrenty : THE END

The return of PDK4438 on Penang roads
It's time to install some life back to this empty soul
